Mossgate School Uniform

The school colours are navy blue and white and any combination of the following may be worn:

  • Navy skirt, pinafore dress or trousers
  • Navy jumper, cardigan or sweatshirt, fleece or body warmer
  • White shirt or blouse, polo shirt, polo-neck sweater

In summer:

  • Blue and white gingham check or striped dress
  • Navy shorts
  • White short sleeved shirt or polo shirt.

There is no school tie.

Dark coloured shoes, not trainers or boots, are part of the school uniform. Shoes for girls should be of an appropriate height. High heeled shoes are a health and safety hazard in school and should not be worn.

School sweatshirts, winter coats, fleeces and polo shirts may be ordered through the school office.

We keep a stock of second hand uniform available to buy at a cost of 50p per item.  We are grateful for any contributions to this stock if your child has outgrown any of their uniform.

Children must be provided with a white T-shirt and navy shorts and a pair of slip on plimsolls with light coloured soles and trainers for outdoor P.E.  A navy blue tracksuit may be worn for outdoor games, but is not suitable for indoor work.

PE kit should be kept in its own drawstring bag which can easily hang on the child’s peg in the cloakroom.

The PE kit should be in school every day, taken home only during the holidays for laundering.

Children go swimming during Year 5.

Trunks for boys and a one-piece costume for girls should be brought to school on the appropriate day and returned home the same day. Goggles may only be worn on medical advice.   These are worn at pupil’s own risk and parents must obtain and complete a disclaimer from the school office prior to goggles being used.  Kit needs to be contained in a suitable, small bag that will hang on a cloakroom peg.

All items of clothing including uniform, P.E. Kit and swimming kit, should be clearly named. Woven name tapes are available to order through school.

It is expected that children come to school clean and tidily dressed in clothes suitable for the work they are expected to do, taking a pride in their appearance.

  • Nail varnish, jewellery and makeup are not allowed in school.
  • Cloakroom space is limited so please send only small bags into school.
  • Large hair bows are not suitable for school.
