Primary PE and Sports Funding

This year we will recieve £18000 to raise the standard of PE provision in school. This money is used to achieve the targets below.

Targets for 2017-18:

  • Increase the quality of PE being taught throughout the school.
  • For school to take part in all events organised (where possible) through the Heysham Schools Partnership.
  • More opportunity for children to attend after school sports clubs.
  • For KS1 to have more after school sports clubs to choose from
  • For all staff to have the opportunity to develop their CPD in an area of PE of their choice.
  • For all staff to be trained in Outdoor Education
  • For children in Y6 to take ownership over leading playtime games for children in KS1.
  • To allow all children in KS2 to experience Outdoor Adventurous Activities off site provided by Morecambe High Scho

Impact Measures

  • Quality of teaching in PE to be at least Good.
  • An increase in the number of children attending after school clubs.
  • More success in competitive school sports when going to competitions and tournaments.
  • A greater awareness by pupils of the benefits of sport to their health.

Last year was very successful due to the sports funding.

  • All teachers have been on an outdoor education day led by Morecambe High School.

Competitions and Tournaments

  • 2 Dodgeball competitions for Y3/4 and Y5/6
  • Football League for Y4/5 and 6
  • 2 Football competitions for Y4/5 and 6
  • 1 Football tournament for Y3/4
  • 3 Tag Rugby tournaments for Y5/6
  • Athletics tournament for Y3/4/5 and 6
  • High 5 tournament for Y5/6
  • Sports Festival for Y5/6 including 5 sports
  • Multi skills for Y1 and Y2
  • Indoor athletics for Y3/4/5 and 6
  • Indoor Athletics for Y1 and Y2
  • 2 Gymnastics competitions for Y3/4/5 and 6.
  • Golf competition for Y1 and Y2
  • Tennis competition for Y3 and Y4
  • Rounders tournament Y5 and Y6

We have won 40 medals from the above competitions over the year and 1 trophy. Our Dodgeball team are undefeated two years in a row in Y3 and Y4. The Y3 and Y4 Gymnasts won first place in their tournament bringing back our first cup. We are also 3rd out of the schools in Morecambe and Lancaster at participation in sporting events. Due to this we have been awarded a Silver Kitemark Sporting Award. We only missed gold by 2 points. Hopefully we will be Gold this year.

After School Clubs

Only 4 children from Y1-Y6 haven’t attended an after school club this year. We now have around 148 children attending Keep Fit Friday every week from Rec-Y6

Outdoor Education

All children in KS2 have now attended a full day of Outdoor Adventurous Activities off site. This has been delivered by Morecambe High School. The children have taken part in Ghyll Scrambling, Canoeing, Kayaking and Climbing.
