The Mossgate Members of Parliament

The Mossgate Parliament

Our Parliament is made up of 20 Mossgate Members of Parliament ( MMP’s) who have been voted for by year groups to represent the school. Each class is represented by a group of children who attend a meeting with the Deputy Head fortnightly to discuss what is happening in school. It is the responsibility of each MMP to ensure that they express both their own views and the views of all the other children that they represent.

The Mossgate Members of Parliament for 2016- 2017 are:

Year 6 – Hal ( Chair), Eloise ( Chair), Michael ( Vice Chair) , Charlie ( Vice Chair)

Year 5 - Lilly , Matthew, Sarah, Joshua

Year 4 – Rose, Kieran, Adam, Corrie

Year 3 - Jack and Sienna

The Mossgate Parliament enables the pupils to get more involved in the way our school is run. The Parliament helps to benefit all at school by providing the pupils with the chance to communicate their feelings to teachers, governors, parents and staff as well as influence decisions that are made.

This year we are focussing on:

  1. Playground activities
  2. Organising charity events in school – including Children in Need/ NSPCC / Water Aid/ Bay Cottage Heysham
  3. Developing the Curriculum
  4. Linking with other school parliaments
